Is your boat showing its age with a dull, faded, or discolored appearance? Don’t let yacht detailing take away from your boat’s natural beauty. At Sunrise Marine Detailing, we offer two proven approaches to yacht detailing: a Buff and Wax service for light to moderate yacht detailing, and a Full Restoration with sanding for boats that need deeper correction. Either way, we bring your gel coat back to life.
Bring Your Boat Back to LifeNot every boat needs the same treatment. That’s why we offer two distinct packages, so you pay for the work your boat actually needs and nothing more.
Buff and Wax is our most popular service for boats with light to moderate yacht detailing or a dull gel coat. Using professional-grade marine compounds and polishes, we cut through the haze and restore a deep, glossy finish. Faster turnaround and more affordable than a full restoration, and the right fit for most boats in the Tampa Bay area.
Full Restoration is for boats with heavy yacht detailing, chalky gel coat, or years of neglect. We sand to fully remove the yacht detailing layer, then follow with multi-stage compound, polish, and a protective wax or ceramic finish. It’s the deepest correction we offer.
Not sure which one your boat needs? Send us a few photos and we’ll tell you honestly. Most boats do great with a buff and wax.
Yacht Detailing in Tampa Bay: 40ft and Larger
Large boats and yachts need a detailing team that understands the scale, the materials, and the expectations. We have detailed vessels from 40 to 100+ feet across Tampa Bay's marinas and private docks.
Why Yacht Detailing is Different
A 50-foot yacht is not just a bigger version of a 25-foot center console. The surface area is exponentially larger, the materials are more varied (gelcoat, painted surfaces, teak, stainless, glass), and the stakes are higher. A scratch on a $500K yacht is a different conversation than on a $30K fishing boat. Our team has the equipment, the compounds, and the experience to handle large vessels. We use lifts, scaffolding, and extended-reach tools to access every surface safely.Yacht Detailing Services

Yacht Detailing FAQ
Yacht Detailing FAQs
Yachts need scaled-up versions of everything
Yacht detailing is the same fundamental work as smaller boat detailing, just on a larger scale with more surface area, more brightwork, more interior space, and more complexity. Most detailers who advertise yacht service lack the equipment or experience for larger vessels.Yacht detailing pricing varies widely with size and scope
Yacht details typically start around $1,500 for basic service on smaller yachts and can run significantly higher for full restoration or ceramic coating on 50+ ft vessels. Quote is always custom for yachts, too many variables.Yacht crews appreciate professional maintenance
For crewed yachts, our service supplements crew work rather than replaces it. We handle specialized work (restoration, ceramic coating) that most crews are not set up for.Interior detailing is often bigger than exterior on yachts
On larger yachts, interior detailing, cabin cleaning, upholstery, galley, heads, carpet, can take longer than exterior work. We do both and coordinate the sequence to avoid re-dirtying finished areas.On-site vs. boatyard choice depends on scope
Small yacht work is typically done at your slip. Major restoration or ceramic coating on large yachts may be better done at a boatyard where we can control conditions. We handle coordination either way.Do you work on large yachts?
Yes. We detail yachts up to roughly 55 ft routinely. Larger yachts are handled case-by-case depending on access, scope, and timing. Contact us with your vessel details and we will confirm. How much does yacht detailing cost?
Yacht detailing pricing varies widely with vessel size and scope. Basic service on smaller yachts starts around $1,500. Full details on larger yachts, restoration work, and ceramic coating can run significantly higher. Request a custom quote. Can you work on yachts at private marinas like Westshore Yacht Club?
Yes. We service yachts at Westshore Yacht Club, Davis Islands Yacht Club, Tierra Verde Marina, Regatta Pointe, and other Tampa Bay yacht facilities regularly.Do you detail interior spaces on yachts?
Yes. On larger yachts, interior work (cabins, heads, galleys, upholstery) is a major part of the service. We coordinate interior and exterior to finish both to the same standard. Can you work with our yacht crew or captain?
Yes. For crewed yachts, we coordinate with the captain or senior crew member on scheduling, scope, and access. Our service supplements crew work rather than replacing it.Heavy yacht detailing needs more than a full detail
Boats with severely chalky, faded, or rough gelcoat have yacht detailing that has eaten into the surface. A standard full detail will not bring these boats back. Full restoration, including sanding, multi-step compounding, and polishing, is the correct call.Restoration pricing runs $4,250 to $32,000
Full restoration with sanding runs $4,250 to $32,000 depending on boat size, severity of yacht detailing, and how much of the gelcoat needs work. Smaller boats with moderate yacht detailing fall lower; large boats with heavy yacht detailing over the full hull run to the top end.Sanding is serious work and not reversible
Sanding removes a thin layer of oxidized gelcoat to reach healthy material underneath. Done correctly, it transforms the boat. Done badly, it can burn through gelcoat and require gelcoat repair. This is not a DIY job unless you are experienced. After restoration, ceramic coating protects the investment
Most customers who do a full restoration pair it with ceramic coating afterward. The restored gelcoat is now in a state worth protecting, and ceramic coating keeps it that way for years. Restoration without follow-up protection means the yacht detailing comes back.Restoration typically takes 2 to 5 days
Depending on boat size and severity, a full restoration runs 2 to 5 days of work. We do the work on-site whenever possible, but some larger restorations benefit from being done at our shop. How much does a full boat restoration cost?
Full restoration with sanding runs $4,250 to $32,000 depending on boat size and how heavy the yacht detailing is. Smaller boats with moderate yacht detailing are on the lower end; larger boats with full-hull heavy yacht detailing run higher. Request a free quote for an exact price. What is the difference between a full detail and a full restoration?
A full detail addresses light to moderate yacht detailing with compounding and polishing. Full restoration addresses heavy yacht detailing with sanding as an additional step before compounding. Restoration is the right call when the gelcoat is too far gone for compounding alone to fix.Is my boat too far gone for restoration?
Probably not. Boats that look hopelessly faded or chalky usually respond dramatically to proper restoration. What cannot be restored: gelcoat that has cracked, blistered, or worn through to the underlying fiberglass. Those require gelcoat repair before restoration.Do I need ceramic coating after restoration?
Not strictly required, but strongly recommended. Without protection, yacht detailing will start again within one to two seasons. Ceramic coating locks in the restoration result for 2 to 5 years. How long does restoration take?
Full restoration typically runs 2 to 5 days depending on boat size and severity. We do most restoration work on-site, though some larger jobs benefit from being at our shop. How long does a full yacht detail take?
A full interior and exterior detail on a 50-foot yacht typically takes 2 to 3 days. Larger vessels or those needing heavy restoration may take longer. We provide a timeline with every quote.
Can you work at my private dock?
Yes. We bring all equipment and supplies to your location. We work at private docks, marina slips, and boatyards across Tampa Bay.
Do you have experience with painted hulls?
Yes. We use different compounds and techniques for painted surfaces versus gelcoat. We will never use a gelcoat compound on a painted hull. Call (727) 297-8866 or email us at corey@sunrisemarinedetailingllc.com for a yacht detailing consultation.
