Florida heat, salt air, and sun are brutal on boat upholstery. Mold creeps into seat seams, sunscreen yellows white vinyl, and UV breaks down the plasticizers that keep vinyl supple. At Sunrise Marine Detailing we deep-clean and condition every vinyl surface, seats, cushions, isinglass, headliners, and carpet, then lock in UV protection so your interior actually lasts the season.

Bring Your Boat Back to Life

Vinyl cleaning is the most-neglected part of boat maintenance, and one of the most-expensive surfaces to replace if you let it go too long. We offer two ways to book it.

Standalone Vinyl Service, deep clean every vinyl surface (seats, helm pads, isinglass, headliner), kill mold and mildew at the root, treat sunscreen and dye stains, then apply marine-grade UV protectant. Most boats in the Tampa Bay area run $150 to $400 depending on size and condition.

Included With a Deep Clean, upholstery, carpet, and headliner cleaning come standard inside any Deep Clean package ($450 to $750). If you're booking an exterior service the same day, vinyl is included at no extra charge.

Not sure how bad yours is? Send us a few photos and we'll tell you honestly. Most owners are surprised how much white-vinyl color comes back with the right cleaner and conditioner.

Common Issues We Fix

Mold and Mildew

The number one problem we see on Tampa Bay boats. Mold grows anywhere there is moisture and poor ventilation, especially on seat backs, under cushions, and in storage compartments. We kill mold at the surface and treat the area to slow regrowth. Read our mold prevention guide for tips on keeping it away between cleanings.

Sunscreen and Lotion Stains

Sunscreen with avobenzone (the active ingredient in most spray sunscreens) chemically stains white vinyl yellow-orange. The longer it sits, the harder it is to remove. We use targeted treatments that break down these chemical stains without damaging the vinyl.

UV Fading and Cracking

Florida sun breaks down vinyl's plasticizers, causing it to dry out, fade, and eventually crack. Our conditioning treatment restores moisture and UV-protectant chemicals to extend the life of your vinyl.

Boat Upholstery and Vinyl Cleaning FAQ

Upholstery & Vinyl Cleaning FAQs

Vinyl cleaning is the most-neglected part of boat maintenanceVinyl seats and upholstery take brutal UV, salt, sunscreen, bait, and sweat exposure. Most owners do not clean them often enough, which leads to permanent staining and cracking. Regular vinyl cleaning is cheap insurance against expensive replacement.
Vinyl pricing runs $150 to $400+Standalone vinyl cleaning service runs $150 to $400 for typical boats. Heavily stained vinyl or large upholstered areas (large cabins, full carpet) can run higher. Included as part of deep cleans and full details at no extra charge.
Mildew and mold come back unless you treat the root causeCleaning visible mildew is only half the job. If moisture keeps accumulating on stored seats, mildew returns. We use antimicrobial treatments that kill the roots and recommend storage practices to keep moisture down.
UV protectant extends vinyl life dramaticallyClean vinyl is good; protected vinyl is better. We apply marine-grade UV protectant that slows the breakdown of vinyl in Florida sun. Treated vinyl can last years longer than untreated.
Carpet and headliner cleaning included on requestIn addition to seating, we clean boat carpets, headliners, and interior vinyl surfaces. Interior cleaning is especially valuable on cabin boats where mildew is common.
How much does boat upholstery cleaning cost?Standalone boat upholstery and vinyl cleaning runs $150 to $400 for typical boats. Heavily stained vinyl or full-cabin cleaning can run higher. Vinyl cleaning is included at no extra charge when you book a deep clean or full detail.
Can you remove mildew from my vinyl seats?Yes, most mildew staining comes out with proper marine-grade mildew removers and technique. Very old or embedded mildew on white vinyl can leave faint shadowing, but we get the worst of it out.
Do you treat vinyl with UV protectant after cleaning?Yes. Every vinyl cleaning includes marine-grade UV protectant application. This slows UV damage and keeps the vinyl supple and stain-resistant.
Can you clean boat carpet too?Yes. We clean boat carpet, snap-in flooring, and cabin flooring as part of our interior service. Heavy staining or pet damage is case-by-case.
How often should vinyl be cleaned?Ideally every month with a quick wipe-down (included in monthly wash plans). A deeper vinyl treatment including UV protectant is recommended once or twice a year depending on sun exposure.
How often should I have my vinyl cleaned? In Florida, professional vinyl cleaning every 3 to 4 months keeps mold and staining under control. Between cleanings, wipe down seats after every use with a damp microfiber cloth and apply vinyl protectant monthly.
Can you fix cracked or torn vinyl? We focus on cleaning and conditioning. For vinyl repair or replacement, we can refer you to a trusted marine upholstery shop in the area.
